What We’re Working On

The hackathon2026 label can be used to find Jira tickets relevant to the event.

We’re focusing on the new query planner based on the Apache Calcite project. The Jiras below gather some outstanding tasks that we would like to advance in the coming months:

Participants can freely work on any other ticket under the Jira tracker or even create their own.

Getting Started Before the Event

To make the most of hackathon time, we recommend:

  1. Read the contribution guidelines
  2. Check the prerequisites and try the build instructions
  3. Setup the [dev environment using Docker]((https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/IMPALA/pages/73636525/Impala+Development+Environment+inside+Docker)
  4. Send questions about build/setup issues to the Impala dev list before the event.

Don’t get discouraged if you get stuck on some of the steps above as the project is rather complex. We will be happy to see you at the event and help you out to complete the setup. Helping newcommers setup their environment and get started with the project is also among the goals of the event.
